What is Micro-current?

Micro-current is an electrically based therapy modality delivering a current in the millionths of an ampere which has the ability to reduce pain syndrome, increase the rate of ATP production, as well as protein synthesis and improve amino acid transport. It increases the rate of wound healing, stimulates injured tissue regeneration and lymph flow, it can relieve myofascial trigger point pain and alter scar tissue. The current flows at a physiological rate on the same scale as the current, the human body produces at the cellular level. Electrotherapy units such as TENS, Interferential, High Volt and Sine deliver in milliamps. They can create muscle contraction that the micro-current cannot. Micro-current is mostly sub-sensory and therefore barely noticeable as it is difficult for the sensory nerves receptors to be stimulated by such a low current.

What does it do?

Micro-current can increase ATP production by up to 500%. In studies performed by Ngok Cheng, M.D. entitled "The effects of Electric Current on ATP generation, Protein Synthesis and membrane transport in Rat Skin." ATP production increased 5 times the normal level using currents from 50mA to 1000mA, while currents exceeding 1000mA the ATP level remain constant and a with current level of 5000mA ATP production was slightly reduced. Micro-current also increased protein synthesis and amino acid transport.

Micro-current applied to injured tissue enhances the natural current flow within those tissues, allowing the traumatized cells to regain normal conductivity of their electrical potential. Trauma disrupts the normal electrical potential of cells and increases their resistance which leads to bio-impedance to cellular function. When micro-current is applied, the resistance is reduced allowing the bio-electric flow to re-establish normal function.

What conditions has it been used to treat?

How does it work?

The explanation for the effects of specific frequencies on individual tissues and conditions is related to the understanding of the interplay of quantum effects on the energetic fields. Physical tissue is a collection of biological, biochemical, and bioelectric systems. If you look at the molecules that make up cells you see they are made of atoms which are made of smaller bits of energy whirling at great speed held together by electromagnetic bonds. When you look at the subatomic particles, there is no matter, there is just bits of energy that may behave like particles or waves. If you look at the bits of energy, there is more space between the bits of energy than there is bit of energy. if the electromagnetic field between the bits of energy holds the electromagnetic patterns of macromolecular events, then we can understand how the effects of a physical injury or trauma can remain in the tissue long after the tissue should have healed. The concept of a continuum between the brain and the rest of the body through perineurium (nerve conduits) combined with the ability of the tissues to hold energetic patterns tends to explain how emotional trauma and memory is stored in the physical tissue and therefore affects physical function. Virtually all molecules forming the living matrix are semiconductors and do not have to touch each other to interact, energy can flow through the electromagnetic field. In quoting Dr. James Oschman, a Ph.D. biophysicist. "Every part of the body, including all of the molecules form a continuous interconnected semiconductor electronic network. Each component of the organism, even the smallest part, is emersed in and generates a constant stream of vibratory information...Complete health corresponds to total interconnection. Accumulated physical and/or emotional trauma impairs the interconnections. When this happens, the body's defence and repair systems become impaired and disease has a chance to take hold."

Frequency Specific Micro-current utilizes the principal of resonance effect. The frequencies act to either neutralize or amplify the electromagnetic pattern in the field. The micro-current provides electrons at physiological amperage, increasing ATP production, while producing intracellular effects such as increased protein synthesis, waste product disposal and amino acid transport. Because the tissues are semiconductors they facilitate the resonant frequency and the electrons into the field throughout the body to produce observable effects. The field itself which is the space between the bits of energy, and the space between the strands of tissue matrix act like a computer disc to store vibrational information. The micro current delivers two frequencies. One is the command and one is the target frequency. In other word the command frequency tell the system what to do, while the target or address frequency tell the system where to do it.

Micro-current Therapy is not used during pregnancy or on people with pacemakers.
